About Me:
I grew up along the Mississippi River
on a farm in Illinois. As an undergrad at UC Berkeley I majored in
English Literature with a writing emphasis, and studied with Thom Gunn,
Joan Didion, Leonard Michaels, and Josephine Miles. Staying on at
Berkeley for Library School, I developed an interest in Special
Collections while interning at the Bancroft Library.
Work:
My career as a librarian at USF began in 1988, where I have worked in Reference, Special Collections, and Cataloging.
Interests:
San Francisco is one of the great
locations in the world for enjoying the arts, and I attempt to make the
most of that opportunity, pursuing interests in film, dance, opera,
painting, music, writing, graphics & typography. My taste runs from
traditional to experimental, both being exceptionally well served here.
In addition I am active in AIDS support work. My daughter is an editor
at Chronicle Books, and takes a kind and conscientious interest in
keeping me up to date on matters of culture and fashion.
