With accomplished faculty, small studio classes, and an innovative focus on social justice and community engagement, the Department of Art + Architecture holds unique appeal among educational institutions in the Bay Area.
Committed to the education of students as whole people, the faculty aims to prepare them for a complex world in which their artistic gifts are needed more than ever. The program has grown since its inception in 2003 to almost 400 student majors and minors. The curriculum is composed of 48 units of broad grounding in the
fundamentals of visual art and design, together with upper-division
courses in the chosen major. Applicants to the department should follow USF's regular undergraduate
admissions procedures; no portfolio is required.
The department has four unique majors and offers a Bachelor of Arts Degree in:
