The Department of Theology and Religious Studies offers diverse courses every semester.  Many of the Department's courses satisfy more than one area of the Core Curriculum requirements, including Theology (D-2), Ethics (D-3), Service Learning, and Cultural Diversity.

The Dalai Lama: Monk, Politician, Celebrity

Everyone knows his face and smile, but who is the Dalai Lama really?  This Core course will draw upon substantial research, media coverage, and first-hand encounters with the Dalai Lama to illustrate Buddhism in general but also Tibetan Buddhism, China-Tibet relations, the role of Hollywood to publicize Tibet, and core teachings of the Dalai Lama.
