Atomic Bomb Survivors Speak Out! / 6 p.m. McLaren 251. Junko Kayashige and Miyako Yano, two Hibakusha women from Hiroshima, share their experiences of the U.S. atomic bombings in Japan. TRANSCENDING: The Wat Misaka Story / 5-7p.m. Fromm Hall. USF Athletics is co-sponsoring with Asian American Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences, a film screening of Transcending: The Wat Misaka Story, a documentary film about Wat Misaka, the first Asian American pro basketball player. Wat - a Nissei, who was born and raised in Utah, was the very first draft pick of the New York Knicks in 1947. Overcoming the national political climate during World War II, he was a star player for the University of Utah 1944 and 1947 championship teams, taking 2 years off in between to serve in the U.S. Army. His perseverance and loyalty to his teammates, other Nissei friends (including those interned at Topaz) and his family, are a testament to the unflappable Japanese American spirit. The opera artfully integrates eastern and western cultures. Clifford Cranna, a 30 year award-winning veteran of the San Francisco Opera, will show a 10-minute documentary about the opera and introduce the composer of "The Bonesetter's Daughter," Stewart Wallace, already known here for his opera "Harvey Milk." Gym Orientations / Koret.  This service is free to all USF students, faculty and staff.  Your 30 minute orientation includes a walk-thru of any weight room and cardiovascular equipment that you have questions about, and a brief review of gym etiquette (the trainer does not design a workout program for you).  To schedule your orientation, please call 422-2606. 

Personal Training / The Koret Center offers a full staff of certified personal trainers ready to design a workout plan to meet your unique needs and goals.  Discount prices for USF students ($30), full-time faculty and staff, and annual Koret members, and seniors 55 yrs+ ($55).  Training is $65 for all others. Chair Massage / Add a special touch to your next on-campus meeting, health fair or celebration by offering chair massage. At only $1 per minute, it fits into any event or departmental budget. Due to scheduling considerations with massage therapists, please allow at least 1 week notice to book your event.
