Environmental Safety (ESO) is an office within the Department of Facilities Management. The ESO provides guidance and services to protect the health and safety of the University by facilitating compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety laws and regulations with regard to the management of hazardous materials and wastes as well as the occupational health and safety practices related to the safe use of these materials.
The ESO also manages outreach and education for the USF Recycles program. The recycling program at USF collects all commingled recycling materials as well as compost, landscaping greenwaste, electronic wastes (computers, monitors, printers, etc.), scrap metal as well as universal wastes such as fluorescent lights and batteries.
