A veteran of digital media, Mr. Grey joined Polaris Venture
Partners as Executive-In-Residence (EIR) in October 2008. As EIR,
he provides strategic guidance to Polaris' digital media
and consumer products and services portfolio companies, mentors
entrepreneurs and helps identify new investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Polaris, Brian spent three years at FOX
Interactive Media (FIM) as SVP & GM of FOX Sports Interactive
(FSI) where he oversaw all digital programming, production and
business operations for FOX Sports. Previous to FOX, Brian served
as GM of Yahoo! Sports, guiding both the business and programming
sports efforts across Yahoo!. While at Yahoo!, Brian oversaw the
company's emergence as a top-tier online sports property
through major growth in online fantasy sports gaming and the launch
of several original programming "firsts" at Yahoo!, including the
SportsStream original video webcast series and the hiring of nearly
a dozen exclusive analysts and writers.
A native of Portland, OR, Brian earned a B.A. in Economics and
Mathematics from Pacific University (1990), an M.A. in Economics
from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1991), and an MBA
from The Anderson School at UCLA (1997). He also spent time as
pitching coach at UC Santa Barbara in 1993, and later scouted for
the Chicago White Sox in 1994-95.
