Dr. KT Waxman is a nurse leader with over 25 years of
experience in health care and corporate settings. She is President
and CEO of Waxman and Associates and currently the program director
for the Bay Area Simulation Collaborative (BASC) and the California
Simulation Alliance (CSA) at the California Institute for Nursing
& Health Care (CINHC). As a full-time Assistant Professor at
the University of San Francisco, she coordinates and teaches in the
Executive Leader Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program.
An internationally known speaker and author, Waxman is also a past
president of the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL) and
active with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE)
serving on its International Committee. She is currently serving as
Chair of the Membership Committee for the Society for Simulation in
Healthcare (SSIH).
Dr. Waxman's work has been published extensively and can
be found in the Clinical Simulation for Nursing, Journal of Nursing
Education, Nurse Leader and Creative Nursing journals, among
others. She
also authored the book "A Practical Guide to Finance and Budgeting:
Skills for Nurse Managers", which is now in its second edition. A
second textbook is currently in progress focusing on financial and
business skills for DNP students. Dr. Waxman received her DNP from
the University of San Francisco, with an emphasis on health systems
leadership and a concentration in clinical simulation.
