Alev Efendioglu
received his MBA (1974) and PhD. (1978) degrees from the Graduate
School of the Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge). He has been
teaching at the School of Business and Management since 1977.
During his tenure at the University of San Francisco, he has worked
and consulted with many different size businesses, among which many
were family owned and operated. From 1980 to 1995, he was the Small
Business Institute Director and in 1983, received a "Certificate of
Recognition" (awarded annually) from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
His research "Acceptance and Use of Information Technology Among Small
Retail and Service Businesses," was presented at the Western Decision
Sciences Institute, Twenty-Sixth Annual Meeting, March 25-29, 1997,
and was published in the Proceedings. During the conference, this
paper was awarded the "Best paper in the Small Business/Entrepreneurship
Track" award. His article "State of Information Technology in
Small Retail and Service Businesses: An Exploratory Study" was published
in the Journal of Small Business Strategy, Small Business Institute
Directors' Association, Volume 8 No. 2, Fall 1997.
Alev Efendioglu continues to consult and assist for-profit and non-profit
organizations in the "strategy" and the "technology"
areas. He is the "webmaster" for the School of Business
and Management - USF (since Summer 2000), and the Entrepreneurship
Division of the Academy of Management (since 1998). He teaches strategic
management courses at the undergraduate and
the graduate programs.
