Alex created the position of career counselor
at the Gellert Family Business center in the year 2002. He designed
and implemented career strategy sessions for students enrolled in
the class, Family Businesses of San Francisco. As a teenager, he had
his first job at Lombardi’s Sports, one of San Francisco’s
oldest family run businesses.
Formerly a sales analyst in the private client
departments of Montgomery Securities and Robertson Stephens, Alex
has developed a career counseling practice that specializes in
helping professionals who are happy in their current job situations
learn how to achieve better work-life balance by offering creative
solutions to time management. Also, Alex helps those unhappy with
their current jobs figure out how to break the “golden
handcuffs” and do something more meaningful to them. He works out
of the Bay Area Career Center in downtown San Francisco.
Alex holds an M.A. in Career Development from
John F. Kennedy University and a B.A. in Communication from the
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He currently serves on the
boards of the California Career Development Association and the Lick
Wilmerding Alumni Association. He presents both locally and
nationally at business and career development events and was a
featured presenter at the 2003 National Career Development
Association conference in Denver.
