Curriculum

The Intensive English Program offers a serious intensive English language training program that stresses academic English and university preparation. IEP courses are taught by USF faculty in the Department of Rhetoric & Language.

IEP curriculum features:

  • 25 hours of instruction per week
  • Courses focus on Integrated Skills (reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary) and Oral Communication Skills (listening, speaking, fluency, and pronunciation in conversational and academic situations)
  • Courses offered at the intermediate and advanced levels
  • TOEFL preparation workshops

Placement by English Language Ability:

Students will take an English Placement Exam on their first day of classes.

Note: The IEP offers courses at the intermediate and advanced levels. Students will be given an English placement test upon arrival to the IEP to determine their course schedule.
