I'm glad that you are exploring the University of San Francisco as a possibility for your college experience. As Director of Admission, I'm fortunate to work directly with many students and families of students who will be applying to USF. I say "fortunate" because the best part of my job is talking to people about an institution in which I truly believe. USF is an institution where students are able to thrive academically, to explore a world-class city from a safe vantage point, and to meet and share academic experiences with a diverse mix of students from all over the world. And I believe sincerely that students are better prepared for a better future by our mission, which is "to educate minds and hearts to change the world."
I have met many, many students while I've traveled to spread the word about USF. I have helped them as they have applied, I have evaluated their applications and I have answered important questions after they have been admitted. Because I've been so involved in their application and selection process, it is even more gratifying for me to see our students grow and change and learn at USF, until finally they walk across the raised altar of St. Ignatius Church to receive their diplomas at graduation, ready for careers in the arts, education, business, nursing or the sciences.
I will be traveling again this year, visiting schools, speaking at college nights, going to college fairs and hosting receptions for you and your families as you make your decisions about college. I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet, and that I might have a hand in helping another student who will one day use his or her education to make a positive difference in the world.
