Reimagining Justice: Conversation with Tylon Sizemore, stand-up comedian and former-incarcerated advocate

The Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good is excited to host USF students, community members, staff, and faculty for the first of three conversations in Reimagining Justice: Conversations for Building and Strengthening Bridges with Community — a series of intimate conversations held in front of the center's "Reimagining Justice" mural.
Stand-up comic, storyteller, and community activist Thylon Sizemore, known as Tylon T. Boogie is from Oakland, CA. With a natural gift for humor, Tylon finds inspiration in her parents and her own life experiences, embracing comedy as a powerful means of connection and healing. As a formerly incarcerated woman, Tylon's journey exemplifies remarkable resilience. She has faced significant challenges including domestic violence, substance abuse, and a near-death experience in the California prison system. After returning to her community in 2002, Tylon began to channel her experiences to empower others. Committed to community healing, she serves as an Intensive Case Manager with Community Works West, a nonprofit organization, collaborating with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children, Youth and Families, for the Young Men’s Reentry and No Violence Alliance programs. Tylon has hosted her own radio show, Real Tyme with Tylon on KPRI, serves as a regular guest host on Bay Area radio station KBLX and recently made her debut on KTVU Channel 2 News' “Like It Or Not.”
Reimagining Justice is a pilot series funded by the Jesuit Foundation, designed for small group conversation and an active Q&A followed by a light reception. Please RSVP. Limited seating.
