Biography

Miguel Pimentel was born in Puruaran, Michoacán, Mexico but immigrated to the United States when he was 11 years old. He is a proud product of the Hayward Unified School District (HUDS) public school system. Miguel is a credentialed PPS, CWA, and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Ethnic Studies and Spanish from California State University, East Bay. He received his Master's of Arts in Education/Counseling and Student Personnel from San Jose State University. 

Miguel has over 10 years of experience in the education field where he has served in different capacities helping students and families in a K-12 and higher education setting. He worked as an Office Assistant, Parent Activities Coordinator, After School Educator, and Special Projects Manager in a 6th-12th charter school. As a lead teacher in a K-6th grade before and after school program. As an Administrative Support Coordinator, Academic Counselor, and Coordinator for the Undocumented Student Resource Center at both a four-year university and community college settings. As a Mental Health Clinician/Therapist providing short-term mental health services to Unaccompanied Immigrant Youth and Children of Migrant families in a high school in East Oakland. Currently, he is serving as the Program Manager for the Student Welfare and Attendance (SWA) Department with Alameda County Office of Education. In addition, he holds a part-time teaching position in the Department of Educational Psychology- School Counseling Program at Cal State East Bay.
