The Student Managed Fund (SMF) is not just a course—it’s an immersive, hands-on experience in portfolio management. Students step into the role of real-world investors, managing a $3.0 million investment portfolio while developing the skills essential for careers in finance, asset management, and investment banking.
Real-World Investment Strategies
Over the course of the class, students work collaboratively to manage the investment portfolio, conducting extensive market research, fundamental and technical analysis, and portfolio management strategies.
Students leverage our cutting-edge Investment Lab’s market data through Bloomberg and FactSet to uncover investment opportunities and make data-driven decisions. Through this experience, they develop quantitative skills in areas like portfolio management, financial modeling, risk analysis, and valuation techniques. At the same time, they sharpen their qualitative skills, including industry research, macroeconomic trend analysis, and the ability to craft compelling investment theses.
This high-impact, real-world experience challenges students to think critically, act decisively, and develop the skills necessary to thrive in the fast-paced world of finance.
