Professor John Callaway Chairs Technical Advisory Team for Master Plan for the State of Louisiana
MSEM Professor John Callaway was in New Orleans in December to chair the Technical Advisory Team for Predictive Models (PM-TAC) for the 2017 Master Plan for the state of Louisiana. The Master Plan is designed to coordinate restoration and management of coastal projects in Louisiana. A number of integrated models are used to predict how the coast will develop into the future, and the PM-TAC is an outside advisory group tasked with giving input to improve how the models are used.
The 2017 State of Louisiana Coastal Master Plan Model Improvement Plan (MIP) focuses on three modeling areas: Risk assessment modeling (which includes storm surges and waves); Ecosystem-outcome models; and Integrated Compartment Models (ICMs) for the landscape component. Professor Callaway and his team of six scientists will be meeting regularly to support the State's modeling efforts.
