Geospatial Science Certificates
The University of San Francisco Geospatial Analysis Lab and BayGeo’s GIS Education Center, a renowned geospatial non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area, have carefully designed a Geospatial Certificate Program to offer a skill-based curriculum that addresses the industry's latest technologies and fulfills academic rigor.
Whether you're an experienced professional seeking to enhance your GIS expertise or an enthusiastic beginner eager to explore the field, this program is tailored to meet your needs. Gain hands-on experience and invaluable insights to stay ahead in the dynamic geospatial landscape.
Offered in Fall 2024:
- BayGeo's ArcGIS Online Fundamentals: Discover the powerful applications available on Esri's ArcGIS Online platform. The certificate will cover the display and exploration of spatial data, geo-located surveys, ArcGIS Dashboards and ArcGIS StoryMaps.
- BayGeo's Intermediate QGIS: Go beyond the basics of the powerful, free, open-source QGIS software and perform powerful analysis, including spatial interpolation, time series analysis, model building, geocoding, and georeferencing. This certificate includes interactive activities to guide you through essential, intermediate-level GIS skills and time to analyze your chosen data and discover your inner cartographer by creating maps to communicate your results.
- BayGeo’s Intro to ArcGIS Pro: We welcome all learners with an interest in geospatial software, whether you are at "square one" or have previous experience. A number of our previous students have tended to be “non-traditional students”, in the sense that they are either recent graduates or are currently in the workforce. Such students take workshops like ArcGIS Pro Quick Start to build skills and enhance their career opportunities. Several students have expressed interest in transitioning to GIS-related careers.
- BayGeo’s Intro to Python for GIS: This online course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Python programming for Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The course is perfect for GIS professionals, geographers, and other individuals interested in learning how to use Python to automate GIS workflows and perform spatial analysis. By the end of the course, students will have gained a solid foundation in the Python programming language and will be able to use this knowledge to build custom tools and perform complex analysis in GIS applications.
- BayGeo’s Introduction to QGIS: QGIS is a free, open-source software that can analyze, edit and visualize geospatial data. This powerful software is comparable in functionality to Esri's ArcGIS, but can run on any operating system and... did we say it's free?
- BayGeo's R for GIS: Earn a certificate in R programming with a focus on geospatial data analysis. This program is designed for individuals looking to gain practical skills in using R, a free and open-source statistical package increasingly used by geospatial practitioners.
- BayGeo's R for GIS - Part 2: Dive deeper into complex geospatial challenges and enhance your proficiency in R. This certificate will cover intermediate-level skills for working with spatial data in R, including importing and exporting spatial data, geoprocessing, attribute queries and summaries, and spatial queries and joins.
- BayGeo’s Remote Sensing: This workshop will cover intermediate tools and workflows in ArcGIS Pro. Also covered is developing a basic understanding of remote sensing properties as well as technologies and analysis capabilities in ArcGIS Pro.
- BayGeo's Web Mapping With JavaScript: Learn how to acquire, create, and process geospatial data, then publish the data as interactive maps using cutting-edge JavaScript tools and web-based services.
