New Video Series Features USF Students’ Work on Predicting Wildfires

Frustrated with wildfires repeatedly blazing through California, University of San Francisco students Owen Sordillo (BS ’24 and CEO) and Andrew Saah (BA ’25 and CSO), along with Andrew Pearce (CTO), are developing a tool to help predict wildfires through their start-up Silvaye.

The story of their work and the transformative education they received at the University of San Francisco has been captured in the new video series “Leader Generation” produced for the USF School of Management by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions and presented by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

“Owen and Andrew’s work on wildfire prediction is a great example of how students from different disciplines and programs work together on important issues affecting our world,” said Otgo Erhemjamts, Dean, University of San Francisco School of Management. “This video displays how we are preparing our students to become adaptive, resilient, creative, and entrepreneurial leaders by equipping them with empathy, an understanding of global challenges, and the skills to tackle those challenges.”

Leader Generation is a compelling new series that examines how the business education community is responding to new challenges. This first-of-its-kind online series showcases how business schools are equipping future leaders with the skills and sensitivities to rethink, reimagine, and rebuild business.
