Industry leaders, academics, students, and practitioners gathered at the Seventh-Annual GeoEducation Summit, co-hosted by USF GsAL, to explore the transformative potential of GeoAI.
As part of USF Earth Week and SF Climate Week, an expert panel of speakers explored the multiple dimensions of offshore wind to meet California’s climate goals: energy and policy, community and ecology.
In partnership with GsAL, we showcased how machine learning and data collection are reshaping the fields of sustainability, climate adaptation, and environmental management by enabling more accurate, efficient, and data-driven decision-making processes.
We had the honor of hosting Dr. Joesph Kerski from Esri, the top speaker at our AGU mixer event. He discussed mapping ethics, best practices, and industry.
Alongside USF’s School of Law and Environmental Science program, we discussed recent progress on climate action at the federal, state, and community levels – and discussed next steps in the rapid transformations needed for a healthy climate.

José de Acosta Lecture Series

The José de Acosta lecture series was initiated through the generous donation of USF Alumna and Board of Trustees member Michelle Skaff and her husband Dan.

José de Acosta was a sixteenth-century Jesuit scientist who, nearly 300 years before Charles Darwin's work on natural selection, studied natural history issues in South America. He based his work on meticulous observation and keen insight and wrote extensively on wildlife, atmospheric science, oceanography, and anthropology.
