Anand Durvasula

Adjunct Professor Anand Durvasula currently serves as a Senior Attorney in the Legal Division of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Mr. Durvasula has been at the CPUC for over 10 years. Mr. Durvasula serves as counsel in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and Federal appellate courts on matters including utility ratemaking, energy procurement and market design and associated administrative litigation. In 2022, Mr. Durvasula served as the interim Chief of Staff to the President of the CPUC, overseeing advisory work in the fields of the electricity, natural gas, water, and transportation industries. Mr. Durvasula previous served as Legal and Energy Policy Advisor to President Batjer and Commissioner Randolph at the CPUC, focusing on Federal energy litigation, administrative law, and state policy involving energy procurement and markets and energy infrastructure safety and reliability. Before joining the CPUC, Anand worked as an attorney at a medical device start-up and as a law clerk for the Office of Administrative Law Judges at the U.S. Department of Labor. Anand holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Carnegie Mellon University and a J.D. from Santa Clara University.
